Castleman, Trebbe pace Golden Bears women’s lacrosse

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – Wilbraham’s Emily Castleman made 10 saves in net and fellow Minnechaug Regional High School alum Shelby Trebbe scored a goal and assisted another for the Western New England University women’s lacrosse team as the Golden Bears topped Salve Regina on April 5.

Calabrese, Pride split with Coast Guard

SPRINGFIELD – East Longmeadow’s Frank Calabrese went 2 for 2 with three walks in the Springfield College baseball team’s 7-3 loss in game one of an April 5 doubleheader with Coast Guard and also recorded another hit in the late game, a 3-2 win.

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Brett Bohl of Ludlow knocked in a run in an 8-4 game one loss to Southern New Hampshire University as the American Intenational College baseball team was swept in a doubleheader on April 6.

Abad assists game-tying goal in SC’s comeback win

CAMBRIDGE – Devin Abad of East Longmeadow assisted the game-tying goal as the No. 13 Springfield College came from behind to defeat Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 10-8 on April 5.

Forrest knocks in five in Elms baseball sweep

HOLYOKE – Elms College center fielder Brady Forrest of Hampden went a combined 6 for 9 at the plate with five RBI to help the Blazers post victories of 11-3 and 8-0 over Maine-Presque Isle in an April 6 doubleheader.

Forrest was 4 for 5 with a double, three RBI and three runs scored and Geoff Frost of Ludlow was 2 for 3 with an RBI in game one.

Forrest went 2 for 4 in the opener with a two-RBI double and two runs scored in game two, while Frost was 2 for 3 with the RBI.

Elms golf takes seventh at RIC Invitational

WARWICK, R.I. – Tyler Cudnik of Hampden shot a pair of 83s for a total of 166 as the Elms College golf team notched a combined score of 664 to finish seventh at the Rhode Island College Invitational, which wrapped up on April 5.

Welsh distributed 38 assists in Elms setback

NASHUA, N.H. – Kevin Welsh of Wilbraham dished out 38 assists and served up a pair of aces in the Elms College volleyball team’s 3-1 (21-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-16) loss to Daniel Webster College on April 5.
