Daggett Booster Club to mark National Gymnastics Day

Date: 9/12/2014

AGAWAM – On Sept. 20 from noon to 5 p. m., the Team Booster Club at Daggett Gymnastics, 103 Gold St., will host a celebration at the gym in honor of National Gymnastics Day.

Bring your would-be gymnasts to Daggett Gymnastics to learn more about the sport and take part in the fun and games planned for the day.

The first 25 boys and girls 6  and older who attend will be given passes to have fun in the gym during open gym time from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. There will also be additional activities taking place on the lawn throughout the event.

Kids of all ages will also have an opportunity to snap a photo with Olympian and gym owner Tim Daggett and his gold medal for a nominal fee, with proceeds supporting the team’s athletes.

Bring your gently worn shoes to our Shoe Box recycling collection and help make the planet a little greener.

Members of Daggett’s boys’ and girls’ teams – all ranking competitors on the state, regional and national level this season – will be in the gym demonstrating their skills and routines during the event and there will also be a chance to dunk some of the highest ranking members of the gymnastics teams at a special “Dunk the 10s” dunk tank. Proceeds from the dunk tank will be donated to local charities.

This event, which is free and open to the public, is designed to showcase the positive outcomes of the practice of gymnastics – strength, agility, balance, coordination, and most importantly, focus and discipline.

Sponsored by USA Gymnastics, the sole sanctioning body for men’s and women’s gymnastic competitions from beginner through the Olympic level in the U. S., National Gymnastics Day is celebrated annually by nearly 90,000 athletes at member gyms throughout the U. S.
