Daggett gymnasts qualify for National Championships

AGAWAM – Peter Daggett, son of Olympic gold medalist Tim Daggett, clinched the New England Regional Boys Gymnastics Championships on April 11 at Braintree High School in the 18 and under age group.

In addition to winning the all-around competition, Daggett was crowned New England champion on still rings, vaulting, and parallel bars. He also claimed the Massachusetts State Gymnastics Championship in all-around, pommel horse, still rings and parallel bars on March 22.

His first place finish at New England qualifies him for the National Championships, which take place May 7 to 11 in Daytona Beach, FL.

Daggett will attend the University of Oklahoma on a full athletic scholarship in the fall 2015. Oklahoma recently clinched its ninth NCAA team championship.

Sean Herzog of Daggett Gymnastics placed second in the all-around competition and won the floor exercise in the 18 and under age group at New England. Herzog was runner up to Daggett in the all-around competition at the state championships as well and captured gold on the high bar. His second place finish also qualifies him for the National Championship.

Herzog will attend the University of Minnesota this fall on a gymnastics scholarship.

Kameron Tang placed fifth in the all-around competition and earned three third place finishes on still rings, parallel bars and high bars at New England in the 18 and under age group, which also qualified him for the National Championship.

Ben Provost place second in the all around competition and won the high bar in the 15-16 age group at new England, qualifying for the National Championship as well.
