Falcons officially make Pompea president, Lapointe named VP

SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Falcons, AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets, have announced today that Eric Lapointe has been named executive vice president and Alternate Governor.

The Falcons have also removed the interim tag and appointed Sarah Pompea team president and governor.

Lapointe joins the Springfield Falcons and will oversee all revenue generating functions of the organization. His most recent position was with the Florida Panthers (NHL) as their director of Premium Seating where his primary responsibilities included managing the senior level sales and service team, developing and executing premium selling strategies and driving revenue.

He comes to Springfield with a career that includes managerial and sales responsibilities with the Cleveland Browns (NFL), Miami Dolphins (NFL) and Miami Heat (NBA). Lapointe’s extensive sports business experience includes working under some of the most influential figures in professional sports including Mike Holmgren, Bill Parcells and Pat Riley. He is a graduate of the University at Massachusetts-Amherst with a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management and received a Master’s degree in Management from Cambridge College.

The Chicopee native and his wife, Holly, have two sons, Austin (3) and Aidan (1 month).

“We are very excited to add someone of Eric’s caliber to our team,” Pompea said. “We look forward to the new ideas that he will bring to the Falcons organization.”

Pompea, prior to serving as interim president, was vice president of the Falcons where she organized and supervised the team’s community engagement as well as the marketing aspects for the organization.

She is a graduate of the University of New Haven.
