Last year the Wilbraham Recreation Department with the support of Coach John Devine began an instructional volleyball program for Hampden/Wilbraham students in grades 6-8. The first year program was a huge success with over 40 students participating and this year has been improved and updated. The participants will have the opportunity to develop the basic skills of this exciting sport before competing at the high school level. This six week program runs for 90 minutes, 10-11:30 a.m., and emphasizes the basics of setting, serving, serve receiving, blocking, spiking, offense, defense and game play. No previous experience required, however the coach asks that students come prepared to work hard and learn this exciting and high-speed sport. The Falcon Volleyball club will start its first session October 15 at the Wilbraham Middle School. The six-week program runs September 27 October 7 at the Wilbraham Recreation Dept.
