Goloubef re-signed two-way contract

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed defenseman Cody Goloubef to a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contract for the 2014-15 season, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced on July 7. As is club policy, further terms were not disclosed.

Goloubef, 24, collected two penalty minutes in five games with the Blue Jackets during the 2013-14 season and added 7-21-28, 98 PIM and a +9 plus/minus rating in 62 games with the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons. He has appeared in 17 career NHL games, scoring one goal and adding two penalty minutes while logging an average of 12:49 Time on Ice. He also has tallied 18-52-70 and 232 penalty minutes in 198 career AHL games with the Falcons since beginning his professional career in 2010-11.

A native of Oakville, Ontario, Goloubef was Columbus’ second pick, 37th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft. He played three seasons at the University of Wisconsin (WCHA) from 2007-10, registering 12-25-37, 138 penalty minutes and a +18 plus/minus rating in 118 games. During his junior season in 2009-10, he helped the Badgers reach the NCAA championship game. He also helped Team Canada win a gold medal at the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championships.
