SPRINGFIELD – The Valley Blue Sox got some great news on July 11 as six players were named to the 2015 NECBL All-Star Team.
All six will compete in the All Star Game, which will take place in Sanford, ME on July 21.
The Blue Sox All-Stars include:
Bryan Goossens. The right-handed pitcher from Hampden and Siena College is one of the most imposing hurlers in the league. Goosens has enjoyed a dominant second stint in the NECBL, posting a 1.42 ERA with 25 strikeouts and only 4 walks in 31.2 IP. Thus far, he has only surrendered five earned runs.
Garrett McCain. After a highly successful freshman campaign at Oklahoma State, McCain, a left fielder, has kept his momentum up throughout his time with the Blue Sox. He’s posted a .320/.490/.347 line since arriving with 14 walks and 14 strikeouts. He’s also stolen 10 bases.
Manny De Jesus. Known for his ability to get on base and his stellar defense, De Jesus, a centerfielder from Ohio University, has not disappointed. He currently leads the Blue Sox with a .322 batting average and has gotten on base at a .396 clip. He’s also walked 11 times and struck out only seven. He has also stolen nine bases.
Jake Lumley. The Former Canadian National team member and Canisius stand-out second baseman has been a force for the Blue Sox all season on both sides of the baseball. Arguably the team’s best hitter to date, Lumley’s posted a strong .303/.411/.474 slash line and four triples. He has also recorded 43 put outs at second base.
Rob Pescitelli. Pescitelli, a right fielder from Qunnipiac, has been an anchor in the Blue Sox order all year, posting a .273/.385/.382 line along with three doubles and nine RBI.
Dylan Delso. One of only two returners for the Blue Sox this season, Delso, a C from Oklahoma City, has posted solid numbers for the second straight year. He’s hit .259/.313/.328, but has offered up stellar defense behind the plate for the Blue Sox.
