Locals named to Academic All-CCC team

SPRINGFIELD – Several local athletes were recently named to the Commonwealth Coast Conference’s 2014 Academic All-Conference team for the spring semester.
Eligible student-athletes must have attained at least sophomore status and must have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.00 scale.
Local athletes reaching this achievement were: women’s lacrosse player Emily Castleman, a junior elementary education major from Wilbraham, men’s basketball players Musa Elsir, a junior accounting major from Springfield and Ryan Mickiewicz, a senior finance major from East Longmeadow, men’s lacrosse player Wade Modestow, a sophomore mechanical engineering major from Wilbraham, men’s tennis players Michael Masciadrelli, a junior communication – journalism major from Feeding Hills and PJ Nassar, a junior accounting and finance major from, Longmeadow, and women’s basketball players Ali Pessolano, a senior psychology major from Hampden and Shaylyn Sicard, a senior criminal justice major from Westfield.
Western New England University had 48 student-athletes from nine sports on the list. Western New England had the third-most behind Gordon College (60) and Roger Williams University (59).
Last spring, Western New England had 44 names on this list. In Spring 2012 there were 40 Golden Bears who were honored.
