Mutiny enters 15th season with new look logo and website

Date: 4/10/2014

EAST LONGMEADOW – The Summer 2014 season in the New England Division of the WPSL East Conference will mark the 15th anniversary of the New England Mutiny. In celebration of this accomplishment amidst the constantly changing landscape of women’s soccer in the United States, the Mutiny have re-branded their logo and website in an effort to propel the team into it's next era of on and off-the-field success.

Starting out as the Springfield Sirens that would win a National Championship in the W-League, the New England organization is coming off their sixth WPSL East title. The Mutiny are looking to reach the pinnacle once again in 2014 and this new marketing conception signifies that mission.

This is the fourth brand incarnation of the team’s 15 years existence as the Sirens and the Mutiny. The new design pays tribute to the prior two Mutiny logos while also recognizing the history of the sport and the impact that the team has had on the development of women’s soccer in the New England region.

“I am excited with the modern look of the brand,” Mutiny team owner Joe Ferrara Jr. said. “I would like to personally thank Shawn Shepard and Jorma Kansanen with updating the website and logo, respectively. Fans should stay tuned as coming soon will be a New England Mutiny online store, highlighting our new gear.”

The re-branding will also initiate a renewed merchandise sales effort which will include home/away uniform kits and a brand new line of t-shirts.

The Mutiny recently released their 2014 Schedule in the New England Division of the WPSL East Conference. The 2013 WPSL East champions will host five home games this season at East Longmeadow High School, starting with their season opener vs. the Maine Mariners on May 17 with a 7 p.m. kick-off.

The New England Division opponents for the Mutiny this season will consist of: Boston Breakers Reserves (May 31), Breakers College Academy (June 7), New Hampshire Phantoms (June 28) and Aztec MA (Sat., July 12). The playoffs commence the weekend of July 19-20.

Last season, the Mutiny team went 8-1-5 and possessed one of the top defenses in the league. This year, the team has returned the core of their 2013 East champion squad highlighted by U.S. U-20 star Morgan Andrews and All-WPSL selections Sarah Brochu and McKenzie Hollenbaugh while adding more depth and attacking flair.

“The 2014 season will be extremely challenging,” Ferrara said. “The division features a new addition with the Boston Breakers’ professional reserve team to go along with its collegiate academy squad. With old rival and former national champion Aztec; a New Hampshire side that always gives us fits and Maine having a year under its belt, it is no wonder that this is the WPSL ‘Group of Death.’”

Ferrera added, “Every point will be critical and with the abbreviated playoffs, the fans can be assured that each game will be intense and hotly contested.”

Tickets for all five home matches (including season tickets) at East Longmeadow High School. are now on sale on the Schedule page at the official website of the Mutiny at www.MutinySoccer.com.
