New England Mutiny announce schedule for 2015 season

SPRINGFIELD – World class women’s soccer will come to Western Massachusetts for a 17th consecutive season as the New England Mutiny opens its 2015 season in the Women’s Premier Soccer League on May 16 at 7 p.m. versus New York AC at East Longmeadow High School.

In conjunction with the East Longmeadow Parks & Recreation Department and the East Longmeadow Soccer Association, the Mutiny game will be the conclusion of an all-day soccer jamboree as part of the East Longmeadow Soccer Association (ELSA) annual spring rally and the game will serve has a fundraiser for the ELSA.

Games featuring East Longmeadow town teams will begin at 8 a.m. and run the entire day until the Mutiny take the field at 7 p.m. This will be the 4th successive season that the Mutiny will play in East Longmeadow, which was the venue for one of the organization’s greatest moments – an improbable 2-1 victory over the Boston Breakers professional women’s team in 2012. The Mutiny will conclude its season at East Longmeadow on July 12 at 4 p.m. against the Buxmont Torch.

New England will also play games in two other communities that have a part in the history of one of the longest running women’s soccer franchises in the United States.

On June 6, the Mutiny will host the Jersey Blues at Northampton High School with a 7 p.m. kickoff. In 2008, the Mutiny played in front of a capacity crowd of 1,500 at Northampton High School when it defeated New York 4-1.

On June 20 at 4 p.m. world class women’s soccer returns to the place where it all began as the Mutiny face the Lancaster Inferno at Central High School in Springfield. In 1999, Central High School. was the venue of the first game for the Mutiny organization, formerly known as the Springfield Sirens, where it defeated the Rhode Island Rays 3-0 in front of 2100 fans.

May 16 versus New York AC at East Longmeadow High School, 7 p.m.;
June 6 versus Jersey Blues at Northampton High School, 7 p.m.;
June 13 at Buxmont Torch at Pennridge High School, 3 p.m.;
June 14 at New York AC at New York Athletic Club, 1 p.m.;
June 20 versus Lancaster Inferno at Central High School,  4 p.m.;
June 27 at Lancaster Inferno at Millersville University, 4 p.m.;
July 11 at Jersey Blues  at Farleigh Dickinson University, 6 p.m.;
July 12 versus Buxmont Torch at East Longmeadow High School,  4 p.m.
