Date: 9/4/2014

SPRINGFIELD – Jon Santer was recently named the Springfield College assistant director of sports communications.

Santer will help facilitate all aspects of media and sports communications relating to the 26 intercollegiate men’s and women’s sports teams at the college.

Santer joins the department after graduating this past May from Springfield College with a bachelor’s degree in Communications/Sports Journalism.

During his time as an undergraduate at Springfield College, Santer benefited from working at several different internships. In the fall of 2013, Santer spent four months with the Hockey East Association, the nation's premier college hockey conference, logging over 500 hours as a video production assistant.

In the spring of 2014, Santer interned with the Springfield Sports Communications office, acting as a contact for both the women’s lacrosse team and the nationally-ranked men’s lacrosse program.

In addition, Santer was the sports editor of “The Springfield Student” newspaper and the co-online editor of Springfield College’s SCStudentmedia.com. For his efforts, he was awarded the Springfield College News Media Recognition Award at the Annual Sports Recognition Night.

A local product of East Longmeadow, Santer played four years on the Springfield College men’s lacrosse team, serving as captain for two seasons, and helping the Pride win four-straight Pilgrim Lacrosse League titles.
