Softball teams raise money

Softball teams compete and raise $14,886 for Easter Seals

SPRINGFIELD Thirty-one teams took part in Easter Seals Softball for Independence Aug. 19 and 20 at Forest Park in Springfield. They raised $14,886 for Easter Seals Massachusetts services that help men, women and children with disabilities lead fuller, more independent lives.

Plastipak Packaging was the top fundraiser, contributing $3,350 to Easter Seals. The team was managed by Celso Sandoral.

Other teams raising more than $500 were: Balise Auto, Bradco Supply, Rory Fitzgerald's, American Honda Finance Co., Big Y Supermarket of Chicopee, Aquatiqe Pools, Johnson Foils, Inc., The Republican, University Production, Westfield Bank, Country Bank for Savings, Deitzz & Co. ARC, AAA Auto Club of Pioneer Valley and Big Y Supermarket of East Longmeadow.

Proceeds from Easter Seals Softball for Independence help bring Easter Seals services to children and adults for all types of disabilities. Services include technological assistance, job training and employment, recreational activities, rehabilitation services and public awareness programs.
