| WEST SPRINGFIELD The Olympia High School Select Summer League format is set up for parity and fun. All players will tryout for two tryout sessions while being evaluated by coaches and scouts. Coaches and scouts will then go to a draft and players will be drafted onto six different teams coached by local high school coaches. Games will start the week of June 2 and run through the summer with teams playing once a week. Games will be 15 minute periods with top officials, announcers and music. Playoffs will take place at the end of the summer. Players going into their ninth grade through those enterting their senior year are qualified to apply. Tryouts will take place on June 15 at the Olympia Ice Center starting at 4 p.m. and running until 7 p.m. and June 17 starting at 9:30 a.m. and running until 12:30 p.m. Players will be notified what time they are to arrive for tryouts. Cost of tryouts is $25. After the Draft, Players names, along with the Draft round they were selected and the name of the team that selected them, will be posted on the League Web site. Game schedules will also be posted. Some of this summers Coaches are Bob Martin (East Longmeadow), Paul Rivest (Ludlow), Nick Cocchi (Minnechaug), Brian Foley (Cathedral), Gil Doe (West Springfield)& Moose Matthews (Westfield), and Al Styckiewicz (Chicopee). Each of these coaches will also have a co-coach working with the team. The cost for the summer is $275.00 per player which includes a game jersey, ice time including playoffs, Play-off trophies, quality officials, timer and announcer at each game, stats posted on the web site as well as draft results and a commissioner to oversee the league.
