Sun Valley Skaters attend Basic Skills Competition

Twelve skaters representing the Little Sun Valley Skating Club attended the annual Basic Skills Competition sponsored by the Pittsfield Figure Skating Club on March 4. The event was held at the Pittsfield Boys and Girls Club skating rink and featured competitors from throughout New England and from New York State.

Springfield residents were well represented at this competition. They included:

Sally Alrutz won the Gold medal for basic 3 compulsory moves and Jillian Goelhert received Bronze medals for basic 4 compulsory moves and the basic 4 programs.

Alisha B ellefeuille skated her way to Bronze medals for basic 7 compulsory moves and basic 7 programs.

Shannon Caldwell found herself atop the medals stand once again winning the Gold medal for basic 8 compulsory moves.

Jenna Langevin was draped in Gold medals again for her winning performances in freestyle 2 compulsory moves and freestyle 2 program.

Kristina Davignon spun her way to another Gold medal, winning in freestyle 2 compulsory moves.

Kelsey Coughlin jumped into Silver medal position with her freestyle 2 compulsory moves and freestyle 2 program.

Agawam skater, Allison Schwartz, glided into Bronze medal position for basic 3 compulsory moves.

Rachel Kronick of Longmeadow received a Bronze medal for her basic 3 compulsory moves.

The Town of Hampden was well represented at the competition with the following skaters:

Kristen Reeves won the Bronze medal for basic 8 compulsory moves and her sister, Stephanie, also won a Bronze medal for freestyle 1 compulsory moves and freestyle 1 program.

Also on the top of the medals stand was Chantal Savoie, winning Gold medals for both freestyle 3 compulsory moves and freestyle 3 program.

The Little Sun Valley Skating Club congratulates all of the skaters who participated in this competition on a job well done.
