West defeats Central in double OT for Bay State Games gold

WALTHAM – The West Region girls soccer team captured the gold medal at the
Bay State Games on July 20, topping the Central team 2-1.
The West team came from behind in the second half to tie the score on a goal from Lauren Aldrich. Isabetlla Eduardo of Chicopee High School then potted the game winner with a minute left in double overtime on a break away. The Duseau sisters, Brianna and Rebekah, anchored the defense splitting playing time at goalkeeper in the finals.
The West team came out of the round robin games at 2-1-2, as the second seed. They came from behind in the final two games to gain the results needed to reach the gold medal game for the sixth year in a row.
