Western Mass Pro Soccer preps for second half of ASL season

Date: 3/20/2015

SPRINGFIELD – Winter seems to be hanging on in New England, but glimpses of spring are already peeking through. Spring heralds the return of soccer, and Western Mass (6-0-4) are getting ready to kick off the second half of the 2014-2015 ASL season April 4 at Lusitano Stadium.

While Western Mass went undefeated the first half of the season, the chips will be stacked against them to remain this way by the time the regular season ends. Many divisional rivals have upgraded key positions.

The team is unable to train at snow covered Lusitano Stadium and Western Mass has to deal with losing prolific striker Will Daniels to Icelandic second division team KF Aegir, along with the departure of midfield stalwart Drou Goff.

“It will be difficult overcoming these challenges, but I am confident we have players that can step up,” head coach Federico Molinari said. “We built up a successful team in the first half, and opponents will be trying their best to beat us. But I’m sure that we will overcome these difficulties and continue playing our style on the field.”
