O'Donoghue featured at exhibitDate: 2/9/2011 Feb. 9, 2011
GREATER SPRINGFIELD Reminder Publications' graphic artist Elizabeth O'Donoghue is among the three artists whose work is featured in an exhibition at the Hosmer Gallery of the Forbes Library in Northampton. O'Donoghue was born and raised in Springfield and now resides in Southampton. She said, "Creating images using a digital camera and photoshop on a Mac has allowed me to bring a painterly look to my work. I like to invite the viewer to be surprised by my photos. Although heightened color and light are my subjects, that it happens to be a chair or a pool is secondary. My intention is to capture isolated moments or uncommon vantage points, and to share these offbeat compositions with others. When someone reacts to my pictures in a positive and/or amused manner, I feel that I have arrived at my objective. As a graphic designer for 25 years, I find similar joy and satisfaction in creating photographic works of art."
Seen here is one of O'Donoghue's photos titled, "Clipped."
Also featured in the exhibit is photographer James Gambaro and potter Maya Machin.
The exhibit will be on display through Feb. 28 and there will be an artists' reception on Feb. 12 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Gallery hours are Mondays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Tuesdays, 1 to 5 p.m.; Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Thursdays, 1 to 5 p.m.; and Fridays and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
