Renovated grandstand, bevy of events expected for Three County FairDate: 8/22/2023 NORTHAMPTON — The 206th Three County Fair is set to take place on Labor Day weekend from Sept. 1-4, and as long as the weather holds up, Three County Fair President Thomas Smiarowski is expecting a good turnout.
“We have our fingers crossed,” Smiarowski said..
While many of events are similar to past years, Smiarowski said the fair is excited to introduce its newly-renovated grandstand, which now includes a handicap-accessible viewing area and easier stairs to navigate.
Back in the spring, Smiarowski told Reminder Publishing that the fair received a grant from the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism to fund half of the grandstand renovation project, which cost more than $300,000 in total.
“We’re definitely excited about that,” Smiarowski said.
According to Smiarowski, the fair is also facilitating a motorcycle thrill show called “AMDC Wall of Death – America’s Original Extreme Motorcycle Thrill Show Infield,” which will happen at different times throughout the weekend.
Smiarowski said there will also be a mixture of musical acts from all genres performing each day of the fair, including a Shania Twain tribute singer, as well as performances from Lauren Fleit, Corey Knapp and many more.
“We try to come up with different acts, like country, pop and contemporary,” Smiarowski said of the performances.
As for the fair in general, Smiarowski said he always finds joy in seeing the number of families who attend each year.
“I just enjoy seeing the looks on the faces of the young kids,” he said. “In many cases, this may be their only connection to agriculture and farming, so I think that’s one of the important missions as a fair we have, is to provide those opportunities.”
