AGAWAM – Glen Gary Christmas Tree Farm, located on 539 Shoemaker Lane, will officially be open to the public for the 2020 season on Nov. 27.
According to their Facebook page, the farm will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Dec. 20. It will also be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on opening day, Nov. 27.
The hours and days are consistent with past seasons at the shop, but there are added COVID-19 restrictions for guests who plan on shopping for a Christmas tree.
“We’re limiting the utilization of our trailer rides,” said Judy Santos, a co-owner of Glen Gary. “When we do use them, then they are going to be sanitized after every single use.”
In normal years, Santos said that if four families were waiting for a trailer ride, the shop could just fit them all on one. Due to COVID-19 though, only two families will be allowed on one trailer ride this year.
“We’ve installed plexiglass inside of our store, and we’re limiting the number of customers,” said Santos. “We are not allowing pictures in our sleigh, and we’re not allowed to give out hot cocoa or cider this year.”
Masks will be required inside and outside at all times too, according to Santos. Signs with six-foot increments will also be placed on the floor inside their gift shop so people can keep a safe distance from each other. She believes that there will be a limit of 10 people at the shop.
“We have a lot of trees out there this year, and hopefully it will be a good season for us, and for the customer,” said Santos. “We just ask for their patience.”
