CHICOPEE — “Stop the drop” is the campaign slogan for Chicopee’s Clean City Initiative.
During the May 16 City Council meeting, Mayor John Vieau ordered that they accept the inkind donation of lawn signs in the amount of $1,090 from Sign Dynamics LLC to the city of Chicopee for the Clean City Initiative.
Vieau explained that the campaign was designed from St. Joan of Arc and Litwin Elementary school students.
Seventh graders at St. Joan of Arc were responsible for creating the logo, and fourth graders at Litwin came up with the “stop the drop” slogan.
“We are hopeful this makes a difference,” said Vieau.
He is asking for everyone from kindergarten to grade 12 to make a pledge to stop littering. “If we can get every student on board with that, I think that can really start making a difference. I know that all of us have Chicopee pride — it is a contagious thing,” said Vieau.
“The goal of my administration — and I hope you’re all on board — is to be one of the cleanest cities in Western Mass. and I want to thank sign dynamics because they understand what we’re trying to do,” with their donation.
