CHICOPEE - Mayor John Vieau jumpstarted the holiday season with the city’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting.
The event, which took place virtually last year due to the pandemic, made a welcomed return to in-person activities this year. The gathering opened with Christmas carols from Victory Chapel and a local Girl Scouts troop before the mayor arrived with Santa Claus to unveil the decorative lights. “We’re super excited that we get to be here in person tonight…it’s a very special day here in the city of Chicopee,” said Vieau.
After the lighting, residents were welcomed inside the newly renovated City Hall auditorium to enjoy seasonal snacks.
