CHICOPEE — The 2023 Chicopee Spooktacular is approaching, and the city is seeking local businesses and organizations to come and table the event.
Communications and Special Projects Manager Chloe Soto explained that tabling entails giving out candy and information on each business and its services offered. This includes nonprofits, small businesses and any others interested in participating.
Soto said the vendors come in and decorate in a Halloween or spooky theme.
The event, which takes place at Szot Park, has a cap of about 40 vendors. At press time, Soto said they were about halfway there.
The Spooktacular is set to take place on Oct. 26 from 4 to 7 p.m., with a rain date of Oct. 27.
Soto shared that this event has been happening for a few years and serves as a “place to build community.” Last year, the Spooktacular brought in about 3,000 children and families.
Soto said they are hoping to do a costume contest this year, along with a battle of haunted buses.
The Mayor’s Office will be giving out popcorn and candy.
Soto said the city is also seeking candy donations. Candy can be brought directly to the Mayor’s Office or the police station.
