CHICOPEE — On Feb. 25, the Chicopee St. Patrick’s Parade Committee hosted their annual Colleen Coronation at the Knights of Columbus on 460 Granby Rd. Along with choosing Kailyn Poniatowski as its Colleen and Nydia Morales, Martha O’Donnell, Hailey Prive and Ava Lapa as members of the Colleen Court, the committee also announced several awards. The Jack Woods Award, which awards a dedicated member of the St. Patrick’s Parade Committee, went to Katherine Sliwa, while Rob Pion won the Atkinson Award for a community member who provided assistance to the community. The committee also awarded several $500 scholarships as part of their awards. The St. Patrick’s Parade is set to take place on March 19 in Holyoke.
Parade Marshal Jerry Roy received his sash and shillelagh, and a citation from the city, presented by Mayor John Vieau. Four contestants, Ava Lapa, Natalie Philopott, Nydia Morales and Morgan Patla received $500 scholarships. Lapa received the Maura Culloo-Burns Memorial Scholarship, Philpott was awarded the Furnari Jewelers Scholarship, Morales received the Leo O’Brien memorial scholarship and Patla was awarded the Parade Committee Scholarship.
