Maynard reopens Fairview Deli

Date: 1/25/2018

CHICOPEE – The Fairview Deli has been part of the its neighborhood for decades in various incarnations and its new owner Joanne Maynard is bringing it back as a place for breakfasts, lunches and Polish specialties.

On Jan. 18, Mayor Richard Kos and City Councilor George Balakier were among those who celebrated the officials opening of the eatery with a ribbon-cutting.

Maynard said the restaurant has been open since Dec. 1, 2017 for business and “the community has been fabulous  – so supportive.”

Maynard will be a restaurant owner for the first time, but she is not new to the industry as she has been a cook at the Rumbleseat Bar and Grill.

An inheritance helped her reach her dream of owning the deli, which she described as a “bittersweet experience.” Her family and friends have volunteered their time to help make the deli a success, she added.

She described the menu as “Polish and American comfort food” with the items made fresh on premise daily. Besides breakfast sandwiches and grinders, there are items such as meatloaf dinner, American chop suey and chicken salad. Soups and salads are also made fresh daily.

Among the Polish items are potato and cheese and cabbage pierogi, golumpki and kapusta.

The deli, which is located at 193 Fairview Ave., is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
