CHICOPEE – Chicopee resident Deirdre Godfrey continues calling attention to damage in the Fairview Cemetery. She noted with this photo, “On the day I took these photos I noticed a couple examining a grave near the fence between Fairview and the school driveway next door, and when I went over discovered another gravestone snapped back off its pedestal, newer (1959) and etched, but nowhere near as big as Bellevue. I have not counted as vandalism damaged graves along the fence in that area both because I never looked much in that direction and also thinking that snowplows could have pushed through the fence; however, this grave is not adjacent to the fence and the stone is pushed toward the fence. That's vandalism.”
Godfrey has notified city officials about her concerns.
