Bing to host reception for artist Chris PageDate: 3/25/2016 SPRINGFIELD – Local artist Chris Page will participate in an open discussion and reception with Curator Lori Friedman about his “Moment by Moment, Paintings and Photographic Suites” exhibition at the Bing Arts Center, 716 Sumner Ave., on March 24, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Friedman, an arts management consultant, curator, writer and advisor to artists and art museums, will share an informal dialogue with Page about the exhibition and the role of nature and natural process in contemporary art and in Page’s work. During the reception, a video by Chris Page will be viewed that explores the dynamic process of incoming waves at Fortunes Rocks Beach in Biddeford, ME.
“Moment by Moment, Painting and Photographic Suites” has been on exhibit at the Bing Arts Center since Jan. 30 and will run through March 26. Gallery hours are Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., during events and by appointment.
Page centers his work on the flow of transformation in the sky, ocean, and landscape. His work merges abstraction and landscape in a dialogue between nature and the practice of painting. In 2013, Page began performing “sky-walks,” where his witnessing of the unfolding daytime sky is documented in photographic sequences and later reflected in paintings.
Page lives and works in the Amherst/Northampton area. He was born in Madrid, Spain and grew up in the Boston area. Page has lived and worked in the house he built in the Pelham Hills since leaving Boston in 1974.
