‘That Strange Show’ podcast talks classic horror and comedy

Date: 7/17/2019

GREATER SPRINGFIELD – At the conclusion of each episode of the podcast “That Strange Show,” co-host Amanda “Mandie” Pacitti reminds listeners to “stay strange” as she signs off. After an hour or two of laughs and discussion on a variety of topics including horror-themed television, films and anything else “strange,” trio Pacitti, Angel Lopez and Ryan Corrigan prepare for their next episode.

“It grew from the random idea to start a podcast that didn’t sound like other traditional podcasts. It’s based more around talk radio shows with unscripted spontaneous discussions each week on news, films, comics, and whatever else comes across our plates,” Pacitti told Reminder Publishing of “That Strange Show.”

Pacitti continued, “We cover everything from traditional, classic horror, obscure unknowns and even comedies.”

“That Strange Show” has made their mark in the area, including the recent New England Scare-A-Con convention in Framingham where they were awarded “Most Humorous.”

With over 100 episodes to their name, the “That Strange Show” cast has combined friendship with a passion for “strange topics” to create new episodes for nearly three years. Lopez and Corrigan have been close friends for over 15 years and Pacitti is engaged to Corrigan.

Whether the hosts are discussing television shows such as “Black Mirror” or films like “They Live,” Pacitti said she enjoys connecting with other horror fans through “That Strange Show.”

“What I enjoy most about doing the show is how it connects us to the horror community and gives us the opportunity to take part in events and cover conventions like Rock and Shock and New England Scare-A-Con where we get to interview celebrities and share updates and info on the conventions. It’s a great way to network with other horror fans,” Pacitti shared.

When asked what her favorite topic as discussed on “That Strange Show” was, Pacitti admitted it was a difficult choice.

Pacitti decided it was episode 99 of “That Strange Show,” entitled “Eastbound and Haddonfield” where the trio discussed the 2018 Halloween reboot based on the horror film series developed in the late 1970s.

“We had a lot of fun recording that one being as it was a highly anticipated film and we all had varying opinions,” Pacitti shared.
