Ad Club hosts seminar on social networking and PR

Date: 4/5/2010

SPRINGFIELD The Advertising Club of Western Massachusetts is co-sponsoring a half-day seminar on social networking and public relations with the Advertising Club of Connecticut on April 15 at the Holiday Inn, formerly the Crowne Plaza Hotel, on Rt. 5 in Enfield, Conn. Registration and networking are from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. The program will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Peter Shankman, CEO, entrepreneur, adventurist and author of "Can We Do That? Outrageous PR Stunts That Work And Why Your Company Needs Them" will lead the half-day seminar titled "Turning Outrageous Social Networking and PR from Just Plain Fun to Real Revenue!"

"Every business is hungry for information on how best to use social media, so the two Ad Clubs jumped at the chance to co-sponsor Peter Shankman, who is becoming one of the most sought-after speakers on social marketing in the country," Richard L. DeBonis, past president of the Ad Club of Western Massachusetts, said.

According to Shankman, all the social media in the world, no matter how much fun it may be to use, is pointless if it doesn't make money. He says, at the end of the day, the "buzz" and the "cool factor" don't matter if revenue is not increasing and business is not growing. In his seminar, he will show how to have it all; the cool and the revenue... and to be outrageous.

The half-day seminar is $75 for Ad Club members, $85 for nonmembers and $35 for full-time students. All reservations must be made in writing. To register, contact the Ad Club at 736-CLUB (2582), online at adclubwm.org, or e-mail info@adclubwm.org. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted at the door. No-shows will be billed and an additional charge of $5 will apply for reservations after April 12. There is free parking on site.
