Buxton honored by United Bank
Date: 7/17/2013
WEST SPRINGFIELD – Richard B. Collins, president and CEO of United Bank, announced on July 9 that Maureen Buxton is the 2013 winner of the President’s Award, the highest honor bestowed by the bank.
The prestigious annual award is presented to an employee who exemplifies professional excellence through teamwork, integrity, a positive attitude, and a strong commitment to United Bank.
Buxton, the personal banker for United’s Chicopee branch, was instrumental in the training and transition of New England Bank employees in Connecticut following that bank’s merger with United last fall. That experience alone earned her high praise for her “above and beyond” approach to everything she does, according to Collins.
“Maureen is a dedicated professional who goes out of her way to help and to share her extensive knowledge with others,” said a staff member. “She is resourceful and approaches every issue with a positive attitude.”
In her very own words, “There is always a way to assist a customer; you just have to find it.”
Another colleague added, “Maureen is an effective supervisor and yet an exceptional listener. She is truly an asset, not only to our Chicopee office, but to United Bank as well.”
A Chicopee resident, Buxton joined United Bank in 1998 as a customer service representative at the Holyoke branch. She was promoted to become the personal banker for the bank’s first Chicopee branch, when it opened in 2009.
Earlier in her United career, Buxton received the bank’s quarterly Service Excellence Award in recognition of her exceptional job performance.
