Columbia Gas of Massachusetts held its first “Touch A Truck” community event on the grounds of its Springfield division to promote safety for some 200 children and their families June 27.  Several different vehicles in the Columbia fleet were on display along with Springfield Police K9 officer Ryan Carter and Cairo, Springfield Fire Dept. Rescue Truck and Engine 9, two AMR ambulance staff who demonstrated CPR and choking safety methods, and a boom truck from the Springfield Department of Public Works.

Tommy Moose from Chicopee Falls Lodge Chapter 1849 provided information on Internet safety.  Columbia Gas employees provided natural gas safety information for children with activity books while adults were reminded of the importance of “calling before you dig”  “Dig Safe – 811” as the busy construction and planting season begins.
