WEST SPRINGFIELD — First Niagara recently announced that it has promoted Jason Rivera from branch manager to assistant vice president of Small Business Banking for Western Massachusetts and Eastern Connecticut.

Rivera will be responsible for developing new relationships with local small businesses in his target area.

He will report to John M. Delgadillo, newly appointed vice president of Small Business Banking for the New England Region.

"Jason's four years of experience as a branch manager, along with his ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with local businesses, position him for continued success as a small business banker," Delgadillo said. "Jason is a terrific fit for this new role and we look forward to his continuing professional growth with First Niagara."

Rivera joined First Niagara's retail management team as an officer/branch manager at the bank's Holyoke branch, where he oversaw day to day sales, operations, and compliance. Previously, he served as a small business specialist with Bank of America.

"First Niagara is establishing itself as the bank of choice for small business customers in the New England market," Rivera said. "I look forward to using my knowledge of and relationships in the Western Massachusetts and Eastern Connecticut markets to help First Niagara continue to build its business in the region."

Rivera currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, the Massachusetts International Festival of the Arts, and the Holyoke Public Library.

Rivera graduated from Western New England University with a degree in Business Management.

He is on schedule to complete his degree at the Connecticut School of Finance and Management in March 2012
