HOLYOKE – Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts (GSCWM) announced Jan. 7 that Sara Rowan is its new Product Programs manager.
Rowan has more than 20 years of experience in product development and brand management at Timex Corporation, Yankee Candle Company, Kanzaki Specialty Papers and, most recently, Pioneer Nutritional Formulas Inc.
At the Girl Scouts, Rowan leads the product programs including the Fall Product Program and the Girl Scouts' signature Cookie Program. She collaborates with Girl Scout troop leaders and volunteers throughout the region to promote the financial literacy program that is the cornerstone of the Girl Scouts' Product Programs.
"As a former Girl Scout and a mother of two daughters, I am thrilled to bring my commitment to helping girls reach their full potential to the Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts," Rowan said. "It is an honor to bring my skills to an organization whose mission I value."
GSCWM CEO Pattie Hallberg praised Rowan's new role in the organization.
"Our product programs, particularly the Cookie Program, teach young girls critical life skills," Hallberg said. "Through these programs, girls learn important lessons about goal setting, money management, business ethics and more. With her passion and experience, Sara is a perfect fit for this important position."
Rowan has a degree in government from Smith College and a master's degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
