GoGeeks Computer Rescue celebrates 10 years with new location

EAST LONGMEADOW — GoGeeks Computer Rescue is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with the launch of a brand new retail location in the center of East Longmeadow and a grand opening event.

Formerly on Benton Drive in the industrial section of town, GoGeeks opened to the public on March 19 at 4 Crane Ave., across from Walgreens, near the East Longmeadow rotary. Stan Prager, owner and president of GoGeeks, will be hosting a grand opening event in the Crane Avenue location on April 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. The event, which is open to the public, will feature wine and cheese, a variety of special offers, and an opportunity to enter a drawing to win a free Netbook computer.

According to Prager, who founded the East Longmeadow-based firm in December 2001 to meet the needs of home users and small businesses that are often out of the loop in the world of expensive and highly specialized computer services, the new facility on Crane Avenue offers convenience to clients in a central location that easily accommodates both drive-by and walk-in traffic.

"When I first launched GoGeeks a decade ago most of it was house calls. We're still a rescue service, but we also have a lot of business and residential clients who prefer to stop in — especially since we offer free diagnostic service for drop-offs. Moreover, our slogan is 'Call East Longmeadow not East Asia' — so it made good sense to relocate to the rotary area, which is after all the heart of East Longmeadow," Prager said.

GoGeeks, now celebrating its 10th anniversary, offers a wide range of services that includes computer repair, upgrades, training, data back-up and computer manufacturing.

"In the beginning, it was really all about repair," said Prager, a graduate of Fairfield University, who was a veteran in the industry, mostly on the corporate side, before launching the GoGeeks venture to bring quality services to the home computer user who often has few options for reliable and affordable support. "Later, computer manufacturing became integral to the mix, and this is currently the fastest growing segment of the business, largely because we include a ton of service and a local warranty."

Prager added, "The new location in the center of town is perfect for client consultations."
