GSCU promotes Lavoie to CEO and St. Peter to CFO

Date: 1/5/2009

Julie Lavoie, the current Executive Vice-President, will become CEO of the Greater Springfield Credit Union this year. She started at the then Springfield Municipal Employees Credit Union 30 years ago as a teller.

She has worked in all of the different areas of the credit union and has excelled in all of them. Her hard work and dedication to the Greater Springfield Credit Union and the Credit Union Movement made her a unanimous choice by the board to succeed Gary Rooke as CEO. Lavoie would like all of the credit union's members to know that she will continue to be available for their personal financial needs.

Jennifer St. Peter is being promoted from Comptroller to Chief Financial Officer. In this new role, she will provide vision and leadership in the financial area to the credit union and to help it achieve its long-term strategies and objectives. St. Peter has been employed by the Greater Springfield Credit Union for the past four years. She has 10 years of credit union experience and 15 years of financial experience.

Gary Rooke, the current CEO of the Greater Springfield Credit Union, has graciously agreed to postpone his retirement for at least on year to assist Lavoie and St. Peter in their new roles. Rooke has over 17 years of service at the Greater Springfield Credit Union as CEO and has helped the credit union grow to over 100 million in assets. Rooke will continue to serve the credit union and its members as Vice President of Administration.
