HCC offering ServSafe training course

Date: 4/4/2011

HOLYOKE — The Kittredge Center for Business and Workforce at Holyoke Community College (HCC) has announced its upcoming ServSafe Certification training and exam prep course on April 4 and 11 from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

This course trains food service workers in sanitation and food safety topics and prepares attendees to pass the state ServSafe exam. Certification of at least one full time manager is required by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health for establishments who prepare and serve food.

According to Keith M. Hensley, HCC executive director of workforce and economic development, "Every food establishment is required by law to have at least one full time employee ServSafe certified. This program will increase food service workers' pass rates by giving them instruction and review in food handling techniques and practices. This course is ideal for food service workers in restaurants, hospitals, nursing homes, hospitals, and any other establishment covered under the law."
