Ideas for Living Showcase to debut at Big E grounds

WEST SPRINGFIELD The Home Builders Association of Western Massachusetts is proud to announce that its exciting new show "Ideas for Living Showcase" will be debuting Nov. 2 4 at the Better Living Center at the Eastern States Exposition grounds. This show is designed to encompass a wide array of products and services for the home and for ultimate living including: building, remodeling, interior decorating, holiday cooking, recycling, solar energy, energy efficiency, landscaping, green building, holiday decorating, entertaining and much more.

"Ideas for Living Showcase" will include two stage areas and incorporate a wide variety of seminars and demonstrations to educate the general public. Some of the topics will include solar, green and energy efficient building, recycling, controlling clutter, feng shui, nutritional cooking, holiday decorating and more.

The Comcast stage will feature television personality Cathy Riva on Nov. 3 for two appearances. She is the hostess of the Discovery Home Channel show "The Party Girl" and she will bring her warm Southern charm to the stage as she shares her ideas on creative yet simple themed party and entertaining ideas. Her shows will be held at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. She will be available for autograph signing immediately after her shows.

For those who love great food, you will not want to miss seeing Chef J. Warren as he creates some of his delicious signature dishes. Chef Warren, courtesy of WMAS radio, will be conducting several cooking shows each day of the show. On Saturday and Sunday, he will also be conducting his educational and fun "Kids in the Kitchen with Chef J. and Miss Lynn" show. Surrounding the WMAS cooking stage will be a children's feature area filled with interactive games and activities so be sure to bring your kids for a lot of fun. The West Springfield police department will be on hand for "Child ID" on Saturday from 3 5 pm and again on Sunday from noon to 2 p.m.

The show will offer many opportunities to win great prizes. Be sure to attend the show and register to win a patio enclosure courtesy of Dreamscape/The Right Choice, with a retail value of $20,000. Prior to the show, be sure to listen to ROCK 102 to qualify for your chance to win a Weekend Ski Package for Two to Stratton Mountain. For those who are looking for ideas on how to decorate for the upcoming holidays, there will be a unique show display entitled "Decorating for the Holidays." This show exhibit will highlight the artistic talents of area florists, interior designers and furniture companies as they create an array of holiday themed trees, table settings and room displays. One lucky winner will be able to win $500 worth of merchandise from any of the participating companies so that they can create their own holiday display at home.

As the holidays approach and people gather with families and friends, many of us reflect on our good fortune and remember those less fortunate. Ideas for Living Showcase will offer many opportunities to help those in need. The association is proud to announce that it will be partnering with Clear Channel Radio to conduct a "Toys for Tots" drive in conjunction with the show. KIX 97.9 will collect donated toys for "Toys for Tots" at the door of the show on Saturday. The first 97 people who donate a toy while KIX 97.9 is there will receive free admission to the show. Be sure to listen to KIX Country for exact times. Other charities represented will include Habitat for Humanity, the Shriners, and the American Red Cross that will be conducting blood pressure screenings.

As the proud sponsor of this new show, the Home Builders Association of Western Massachusetts will have an informational booth at the show to educate consumers about how to make informed decisions about their upcoming building/remodeling projects. Members of the association will be on hand to answer your questions and distribute free literature on an array of building concerns. All members are encouraged to stop by the booth to register for a free year's membership and businesses that are interested in joining the association can register for their chance to win a year's trial membership.

For people who appreciate the finer arts, the show will address those needs as well. A creative feature at the show will be an "Artist Gallery" showcasing the talents of some of the area's finest craftspeople. This special display is designed to highlight the unique wares created within the Pioneer Valley and to allow show goers the chance to buy that unique one-of-a-kind holiday gift.

Show hours are Nov. 2 from 1 to 9 p.m., Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ticket prices are $7 for adults and children under 12 are free.
