Laplante Construction completes new Maple Street office building

Date: 10/25/2012

EAST LONGMEADOW – Laplante Construction Inc. has completed the construction of its new commercial office building at 94 Maple St., and has moved its corporate headquarters to the new location.

The new commercial structure, which is in an area that transitions from industrial to residential, is uniquely designed to blend commercial purpose with a residential look and feel.

While headquarters to four businesses, it looks like a cape style home with numerous esthetically pleasing residential-type features in order to achieve the right fit for the neighborhood.

The building, which is on a main corridor into town from I-91 and Longmeadow, required a zoning change that at one time seemed unlikely to be granted. But owners Bill and Ray Laplante were able to convince Town Officials that they could create a residential-looking office building that would produce the benefits of business economic activity and be a welcome addition to the neighborhood where people live.

"We take our pledge of being responsible building professionals very seriously and apply that philosophy to being a good neighbor," Bill Laplante, company president, said. "We are excited about our new office building and very appreciative to the town for allowing us to make it happen."

In addition to Laplante Construction, the building will also be headquarters to Northstar Recycling, M. Scott Investments and the office of Robert M. Phelan.

Laplante Construction was created in 1964 by Founder Ray Laplante and is well known in Western Massachusetts as a leading builder of new homes, renovations, condominiums and light commercial buildings.
