Local publisher named Successful Woman of Distinction

GREATER SPRINGFIELD – Dee Emery-Ferrero, owner of DEF Enterprises and the publisher of Western Mass Women Magazine will be honored as a Successful Woman of Distinction by the national organization WomeninBusiness.org.

Ferrero will be honored for her work with non-traditional women in educational scholarships, the top 25 Women to Watch in Western Mass annual event and her community involvement.

She has been selected to be recognized as a Featured Honoree at the exclusive Grand Salon during the small business expo that will be take place at the Javits Center New York City on June 4.

Thousands of men and women attend SBE, and the invitation from the WomeninBusiness.org is limited to influential, impressive women entrepreneurs, business owners, professionals and C-suite executives who exemplify success.

Under the umbrella of DEF Enterprises, Ferrero owns several businesses including; Western Mass Women Magazine, The Hartford County Women Magazine; The New England Woman Magazine; Media 9 Marketing Associates, WEDDINGS by DESIGN, certified wedding & event planning company and Statement Skincare & Color Cosmetics. All proudly women owned & operated businesses.

Ferrero is the immediate past president of the Agawam Small Business Assistance Center, and a past president of the Greater Springfield Business and Professional Women’s Club. She is the current vice president of of The Women’s Business Owner’s Alliance of Pioneer Valley.

She serves on the boards of the West of the River Chamber of Commerce, The Valley Press Club and the Springfield Technical Community College Business Advisory Board.

Ferrero is a member of several organizations including the Association of Professional Bridal Consultants, The National Free Press Association, The National Association of Professional Women, The Professional Women's Chamber of Springfield, “Who’s Who” in Massachusetts Professional Women and the Connecticut Women’s Council.

She has received several honors including The Women Business Owner's Alliance “Business Woman of the Year 2011”, An Unsung Heroin in Massachusetts award, A Woman of Distinction award from WEIB-FM Radio, and state citations for the Western Mass Women Magazine.
