McCarthy named editor

By Debbie Gardner, PRIME Editor

EAST LONGMEADOW Robert McCarthy recently accepted the position as editor of Reminder Publication's newest product, "Business to Business" magazine.

The mission of "Business to Business" is to help small to medium-size businesses in the Pioneer Valley and Northern Connecticut stay competitive in a changing environment by providing a consistent source of timely articles and information. The publication is delivered by direct mail to over 5,000 local businesspeople.

McCarthy joined Reminder Publications in late fall of 2006 as a special projects editor for the initial issue of "Business to Business," which debuted last October.

A professional writer and longtime resident of Springfield, Mass., McCarthy brings to the editorship of this publication a strong background in business communications, including in-house public relations and advertising work for for Konica Minolta and National Regulatory Services, freelance work for numerous local businesses and script writing for TV commercials and video training films.

He has also had articles published in the "World Trade" magazine, "Yankee" magazine and locally for "BusinessWest" and the former "Business Digest." For the past five years, McCarthy has owned and operated his own marketing and public relations firm, RCM Associates.

McCarthy said he is very excited about taking over the reins of the company's new business publication.

"I like writing about businesses, how they think, how they innovate," McCarthy said. "Especially small businesses that ordinarily don't get much exposure."

And he said has a very clear picture of the direction he hopes to take "Business to Business" magazine.

"I'd like to see it become a forum where small and medium-size businesses can exchange information, exchange techniques, exchange strategies," he said. "I'd like to see 'Business to Business' become something businesses view as having value, as a resource that they can keep and refer to."
