MMWEC ELECTS OFFICERS

LUDLOW — The Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company (MMWEC) elected its officers and four directors during the public power Joint Action Agency's May 4 annual conference.

Kevin P. Kelly, manager of the Groton Electric Light Department, was elected to the Board of Directors by MMWEC's Membership to complete the one year remaining on the term of Thomas R. Josie, retired general manager of Shrewsbury's Electric & Cable Operations.

Reelected to three-year terms as directors of MMWEC are Princeton Municipal Light Department Manager Jonathan V. Fitch, Marblehead Municipal Light Department General Manager Robert V. Jolly and Holyoke Gas & Electric Department Manager James M. Lavelle.

Fitch also was elected by the board to his second one-year term as chairman of the board and Peter D. Dion, general manager of the Wakefield Municipal Gas & Light Department, was reelected by the membership to his third one-year term as president of MMWEC.

Additional MMWEC officers for the coming year, as elected by the board, are Ronald C. DeCurzio, chief executive officer and secretary; James B. Kline, treasurer; Alan R. Menard, assistant treasurer; Nancy A. Brown, assistant secretary; and Nicholas J. Scobbo Jr., general counsel.

Other MMWEC directors, elected previously by the membership, are Gary R. Babin, director of the Mansfield Municipal Electric Department; Jeffrey R. Cady, manager of the Chicopee Municipal Lighting Plant; and Sean Hamilton, general manager of the Sterling Municipal Light Department.

Michael J. Flynn and Paul Robbins, both of Wilbraham, serve on the board as gubernatorial appointees. Flynn also represents the Town of Wilbraham on the board, with Luis Vitorino and John M. Flynn representing the towns of Ludlow and Hampden, respectively.

MMWEC is a non-profit public corporation and political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that provides a variety of power supply, financial, risk management and other services to the state's consumer-owned, municipal utilities.
