New classes listed at Center for Business and Technology

SPRINGFIELD -- Based on the U.S. Department of Labor-forecasts, about 26 percent of all new jobs created in the U.S. economy will be in the healthcare and social assistance industry. This industry which includes public and private hospitals,nursing and residential care facilities, and individual and family services is expected to grow by 24 percent, or four million new jobs during the next eight to 10 years. The Center for Business and Technology (CBT) at Springfield Technical Community College offers a wide range of programs to prepare entry-level health care professionals including: Nurse-aide and CPR certificate program;Phlebotomy technician certificate program;Medical and community interpreting certificate program; Emergency medical technician(EMT) training; Professional pharmacy technician. The center also offers an EKG technician training program;Medical coding and billing certificate program; Medical transcription certificate program and Veterinary assistant program. Most programs are tied to national industry certifications and applications are now being accepted for the upcoming term. Space is limited and early application is strongly recommended.
