Nicolai included in 'Best Lawyers in America' list again

SPRINGFIELD — For the fourth year in a row, Springfield attorney Paul Nicolai has been listed in "The Best Lawyers in America" publication, cited for his expertise in commercial litigation.

More than three million confidential evaluations by 39,000 of the country's leading attorneys help formulate the lists for "The Best Lawyers in America." Published annually since 1983, the reference work is considered a definitive guide to legal excellence in North America.

Nicolai founded Nicolai Law Group in 1988 after serving as company counsel and assistant clerk for Friendly Ice Cream Corporation.

He has participated in a number of reported decisions. He was named a Fellow in the American Bar Foundation in 2007. He serves on multiple committees of the American Bar Association (ABA) business law section and the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility.

He has acted as arbitrator and mediator for approximately 550 cases as part of a class action settlement for Prudential policyholders, and as panel member or panel chair in many fee dispute arbitrations as a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association Fee Arbitration Panel and panels of the American Arbitration Association, National Arbitration Forum and the American Dispute Resolution Center. He also hears and decides complex commercial and intellectual property cases as a member of the American Arbitration Association Large, Complex Case panel. He is a frequent author and presenter on issues of business law.

A longstanding participant in local and regional affairs, Nicolai is a graduate of American International College, earned his JD degree from Western New England College School of Law and holds certificates from Harvard University Law School, among others.
