Re-Greening donation

Date: 7/25/2011

As part of its commitment of $200,000 for tornado relief, PeoplesBank announced $80,000 in re-greening donations to Springfield, Monson, Wilbraham, West Springfield, and Westfield. Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno, center, thanked the bank for its $40,000 donation to replant trees at a press conference on Island Pond Road, in the city’s East Forest Park neighborhood.

Pictured with the mayor are (left to right) Brady Chianciola, AVP and regional manager of PeoplesBank and resident of East Forest Park; Edward Casey, city forester; Patrick Sullivan, executive director of Parks, Buildings and Recreation Management; and Douglas Bowen, president and CEO of PeoplesBank.

To Bowen’s left is a First Tree, which was presented to the city by the bank. The tree is an American Elm Tree — a comeback species itself — that will be planted at Nathan Bill Park, which was also adversely impacted by the tornado.
