Sixteen Acres Library to host small business workshops

SPRINGFIELD — The Sixteen Acres Branch Library will host a series of workshops designed to help people understand the process of setting up a small business or franchise.

The first and third presentations will be by Raymond Milano of the Small Business Administration (SBA), and the second will be led by Frank Dunne of FranNet, a national organization that helps people set-up and maintain a franchise.

The following classes will be offered:

• SBA Programs and Services: Feb. 4 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Looking to start-up a small business? Come hear how the SBA’s can help you start-up your own, or how they can help you expand your existing business. This program will be presented by Milano, SBA’s Springfield branch manager.
  
  
• Starting Your Own Business: Feb. 11 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. At one point or another, many Americans have contemplated owning their own businesses. The idea of being your own boss and in control of your future success has been a dream for many. This presentation discusses trends in the current small business market, rewards and risks of self-employment, the differences between starting a small business from scratch, buying an existing business, and buying into a franchise, and more. Led by Frank Dunne of FranNet.
  
  
• Finance Your Dreams! Feb. 11 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Learn about the many resources that are available to help you find the financing you need, and put it to work effectively. This workshop is facilitated by Milano and may feature other speakers including bank representatives and micro lenders.

All workshops will take place in the Sixteen Acres Branch Library Community Room, 187 Parker St.
