United Bank opens 16th branch in Chicopee

Date: 7/14/2009

CHICOPEE United Bank has opened a new full-service branch at 445 Montgomery St. It is the bank's 16th full-service location.

Located next to Exit 5 off the Massachusetts Turnpike, the new Chicopee office will be staffed by Personal Banker Maureen Buxton, along with an experienced customer service team.

Buxton has more than 17 years of banking experience, and has served as the personal banker in United's Holyoke branch, along with Phyllis Smigiel, since 2003. A life-long Chicopee resident, she has been active in the Chicopee Rotary, the Chicopee Boys & Girls Club, the Chicopee Chamber of Commerce and other local organizations.

"This new Chicopee location is a natural expansion of our branch footprint," Richard Collins, president and CEO of United Bank, said. "We are pleased to be able to provide area residents and businesses with the United brand of banking, as well as the personal attention of a veteran personal banker with strong Chicopee ties."

According to Collins, a number of grand opening specials will be offered to celebrate the newest branch, including a free prize drawing for a Red Sox experience.

United Bank is headquartered in West Springfield and has been a fixture in the Pioneer Valley since 1826.

The bank provides a wide variety of financial products and services through 16 full-service and two walk-up/drive-up express branch locations in communities throughout the area. Online banking services are available at bankatunited.com.
