Chase becomes chairman

Jewish Geriatric Services (JGS) announced that it has named Richard Chase, a resident of Longmeadow, as the incoming Chairman of the organization. Chase was installed as the Chair during the Annual JGS Meeting of the Corporators, which was held on May 23 at the Julian J. Leavitt Family Jewish Nursing Home, and takes over the Chairmanship from Michael Frankel, also of Longmeadow, who has served JGS in this role for the last three years.

Chase is a native of Springfield and serves as Partner-in-Charge of Life/Wealth Advisory Services at Meyers Brothers Kalicka, PC. Since becoming involved with the JGS Board in 1994, he has played critical roles on JGS' Strategic Planning and Investment Committees and the Executive Committee. Most recently he served as First Vice Chair of the organization. In addition to his work with JGS, Mr. Chase has also been involved with the Jimmy Fund Council of Western Massachusetts/Northern Connecticut for nearly 15 years, serving as Treasurer since 1997, and is a former Trustee of the Jewish Endowment Foundation of Western Massachusetts. He and his wife, Lori, have two children, Carly and Danny.

"Throughout the years, the commitment that Richard has shown JGS has been instrumental to the quality of services that we are able to provide throughout our entire system," Alan Rosenfeld, President and CEO of JGS said. "Richard also led the organization through the refinancing of our bonds, always with an eye toward financial stability and an appreciation for the services provided through JGS. We feel confident, under his leadership, Richard will carry on the extraordinary work done by Michael Frankel and past JGS Chairs, and our organization will be able to continue providing programs and services with a high level of excellence for years to come."

Other officers installed during the Annual JGS Meeting of the Corporators included Michael Hurwitz of Longmeadow, First Vice Chair; Jeffrey Rahn of Longmeadow, Treasurer; and Sharon Schwartz of Longmeadow, Clerk.
