Red Cross, Coinstar team upDate: 3/14/2011 SPRINGFIELD Spare change piling up? Spare coins can be donated to the American Red Cross at a Coinstar coin counting machine. March is Red Cross Month and what better way to aid the Red Cross than by gathering spare change to make a difference? Coinstar machines are safe, secure, easy to use and donors immediately receive a tax-deductible receipt for the full value of their donation.
Coinstar machines can be found in supermarkets, drug stores, mass merchants, convenience stores, financial institutions and restaurants throughout the Pioneer Valley. Most machines are equipped with the donation option for the Red Cross. The American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter provides disaster relief services to cities and towns from the Connecticut border to the Vermont border. Donations will help the chapter respond to disasters, help members of the military, and teach lifesaving skills to members of the community.
Rounding up spare change and donating it through Coinstar can bring help and hope to people in need. A donation of just $3 can provide one comfort kit containing hygiene items for a disaster client. A donation of $20 can provide hot meals for two people and a donation of $25 can provide a music gift card to a wounded soldier.
To locate a machine that can accept donations to the American Red Cross, use the machine locator at www.coinstar.com.
