Community Survival Center seeks unwanted clothing, household items

SPRINGFIELD — The Community Survival Center, 240 Main St. in Indian Orchard is the place to bring the clothing and household items people no longer want or need.

The Community Survival Center's Clothing and Household Goods Program, which serves more than 3,000 people each month, is in desperate need of spring clothing, household items such as dishes, glassware, silverware, pots and pans, cooking utensils, linens (sheets, blankets, bedspreads, comforters and towels) and small appliances in working order.

At a time of the year that signifies hope and renewal, donations will make it possible for The Community Survival Center to give hope to friends and neighbors who are struggling financially by assisting them with basic necessities.

Donations will also make it possible for those who have lost everything in a fire or as a result of domestic violence or homelessness to begin rebuilding their lives.

The Community Survival Center is not able to offer pick up services for donations, however, the staff will gladly assist people with unloading their vehicles upon arrival.

Although there are no Saturday drop-off hours, the center is open from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday and also gratefully accepts donations on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. There is a secure drop-off box in the parking lot, which is emptied daily and is strictly for the benefit of The Community Survival Center clients.
