East Longmeadow author to host two local book signings

Date: 10/24/2011

EAST LONGMEADOW — Barbara Spear of East Longmeadow, an award-winning elementary school teacher at Meadow Brook School, and author of “Little Red’s Neighborhood” will appear at two book signings next month.

“Little Red’s Neighborhood” allows readers to join in the adventure of Little Red, the well-trained pup, who begs her Ma and Paw to go teach an old dog a few tricks. In this engaging spin on “Little Red Riding Hood,” the young pup must choose wisely as she comes upon the big, bad Wolfhound. Will Digsly, the Hairy Dogfather, rescue her from a tail of woe?

Spear will be at a book signing on Nov. 5 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Romito & Son’s Deli, 21 North Main St., East Longmeadow, and on Nov. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sister’s Kids, 900 Allen St., Springfield.

“Little Red’s Neighborhood” is the first book in the Digsly series. Spear’s second book, “Three Little Puggies & the Huff ’n Puff Hound” comes out this winter. Both are being published by tatepublishing.com. “Little Red’s Neighborhood” will be available for prerelease (before being available in major book stores nationwide) at the book signings. A portion of the profits will benefit the East Longmeadow Educational Endowment Fund.

Spear lives in East Longmeadow with her husband, Edward, their two daughters, Aeriell and Adriona, and their puppies, Tinker Bella and Tucker.
