Enjoy autumn with Halloween event at Laughing Brook

Date: 9/30/2009

HAMPDEN With Halloween just around the corner, we tend to think about witches and goblins. Did you know that you can find witches' hats growing in the woods at Laughing Brook Wildlife Sanctuary in Hampden? In a Mass Audubon program on "Witches' Hats, Traveling Critters, and Fall Colors," you can find out where these hats are lurking and see how many you can find.

Along the way we will look for critters traveling, such as migrating birds, swimming water beetles and seeds that attach themselves to animals. You won't be able to help but admire the beautiful colors of autumn.

The program is geared for adults and families with children ages five and up, and it will take place on Oct. 17 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Fee is $3 for Mass Audubon members and $5 for non-members. Preregistration is required. Please contact Mass Audubon's Connecticut River Valley Sanctuaries at 584-3009 ext. 812 or arcadia@massaudubon.org.
